Black Sustainability, Inc. (BSI) is dedicated to supporting sustainability practitioners of African descent globally, aiming to build sustainable communities and restore ecological balance. As a freelance/volunteer graphic designer for BSI, I focused on updating their visual identity with a new logo and a subsidiary design for their flagship event, The Black Summit.
The project involved in-depth industry research and collaboration with BSI’s team to align with their mission and desired brand image. I integrated key elements such as symbols of the African diaspora, the colors red, black, and green (RBG), and sustainability motifs like leaves into the logo, carefully balancing these symbols for clarity and impact.
Effective communication with the Executive Director and project manager was essential. Phone and video meetings facilitated design discussions and feedback, streamlining the process and reducing revisions. The iterative design approach, including multiple rounds of sketches and digital drafts, refined the final logo to capture BSI's commitment to diversity and sustainability. The subsidiary logo for The Black Summit provided a cohesive visual identity, enhancing brand recognition across BSI's initiatives.
Candice has the patience of God!!! She was kind, flexible, patient and wanted to be sure we received a quality product for our organization. She created a logo and secondary logo to complement our major summit. We cannot thank her enough for her level of professionalism, flexibility and commitment to excellence! I would highly recommend working with her.
